For those running a Futaba GY401 gyro I'm sure you're well aware that the entire gyro will not fit on the stock gyro shelf.

This was causing some problems for me with the gyro wanting to loosen and tilt a little throwing things off. I was using stock Futaba gyro tape and found myself needing to reseat the tape.

I just made a plywood plate the size of the gyro which I CA'd to the original shelf. I then coat the plywood with thin CA to create a good surface for the tape to stick too.

I used acetone to throughly clean the bottom of the gyro. The gyro is now secure and won't be going anywhere.

Funcoptermods note: this mod is perfect if you fly with the stock tail section.  But if you don’t fly with the stock tail section then the flat spot behind the main shaft is a great spot for the gyro
